Arriving eight months after their sophomore mini-album Not Just Pretty, the new release marks a strategic evolution for the rising act, who have anchored their brand on themes of authenticity since debuting with their initial mini-album, N/a.
The album’s rollout is spearheaded by the title track “METRONOME,” a cut produced by longtime hitmaker TEDDY alongside frequent collaborators KUSH, VVN, and IDO. According to promotional materials, the track utilizes the concept of a metronome to symbolize staying grounded and maintaining one’s own pace amid external chaos, blending the group’s established raw energy with dreamy aesthetics.
“Just like the title of this album, we want to keep moving forward with confidence at our own steady tempo,” the members said. “We’ll show that izna is truly one-of-a-kind, and the group that can make any concept our own.”
The remaining four tracks on the mini-album explore various sonic territories. “R.I.P.” leans into a pop-rock sound focused on moving past the past, while the hip-hop and R&B-infused “ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS” uses the traditional game as a metaphor for relationship dynamics. The project closes with the synth-pop track “LEAN ON ME,” designed as a comfort-focused anthem for listeners.
Notably, members RYU SA RANG and BANG JEE MIN contributed directly to the songwriting process for the track “INFINITY,” a fan-dedicated song aiming to convey mutual trust and appreciation between the group and their audience.
With SET THE TEMPO, izna aims to further solidify their market positioning as self-determining figures within the competitive Gen Z music landscape, shifting from the boundary-pushing themes of their earlier work toward a narrative of setting their own industry standards.
